Dubai has become synonymous with shopping and mega-malls (with The Dubai Mall currently holding the title of the worlds largest). With each new mall opening comes the promise of bigger and better things. So it was extremely refreshing to discover the newly opened BoxPark on Al Wasl Road.

Lets just get one thing out of the way - we here at Out & About UAE absolutely love a good Friday brunch!
Brunch is a pastime that we don’t really have in the United Kingdom. So we were super excited to discover the all you can eat/all you can drink mayhem of this legendary UAE tradition upon our arrival on these shores. Having worked our way through a fair number of these brunches over the past two years, we are calling it now… Olea at the St. Regis Saadiyat currently has the best Friday brunch in the capital!
Last Saturday we here at Out & About UAE were looking for somewhere new to visit on a family day out. Eventually we decided that we would head to Masdar City on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi. Having heard mixed-reviews about this ‘future city’ we were not sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised by what we found….
The UAE (like the rest of the world) is addicted to the notion of the next best thing, or the new and unique experience. Over the past few years we have seen culinary food gimmicks evolve to unprecedented levels! What began with the combining of ingredients, giving us the must have foodie item of 2013 ‘the cronut’ (half donut half croissant), has evolved into the downright bizarre - have you seen the chocolate sharwarma found in Dalma Mall?
Nowadays even the way in which our food is presented to us has to be innovative - yes we are looking at you Rogo’s, with your astounding rollercoaster delivery system. The novelty of these ideas shows no sign of letting up… So we here at Out & About UAE, were really intrigued with the concept of FrostBite - the creation of ice cream out of thin air!
Having recently moved to Reem Island, we here at Out & About UAE were very keen to try some of the culinary offerings close to home. So early one evening we headed into Boutik Mall to see what was on offer, and were pleasantly surprised to find the Asian inspired Smoking Doll right on our doorstep.
After a brief summer hiatus Out & About UAE is back! Kicking off with a new feature to the blog in the form of our very first restaurant review.
Pizza Express is a staple of the UK high street, so (as British expats) we were very excited to discover that the company were opening their very first branch in Abu Dhabi at the World Trade Centre Mall. The restaurant itself is located on the fifth floor of the mall and is currently the only place open on this level, but don’t let that put you off as the venue is simply stunning.
As summer comes to the UAE and many expats flock back home, prices of hotels throughout the Emirates tend to reduce significantly, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. So for those of you staying behind - why not snap up a quick bargain, and relax on one of our ten recommended stay-cations:
This week Out & About UAE decided to take to the tourist trail and ride the Palm Jumeirah Monorail - the first (and only) monorail in the Middle East.
When you think of the United Arab Emirates, the image of idyllic islands and wildlife safaris, is not […]
As the weather in the UAE changes and we brace ourselves for the oppressive heat of another desert summer, we suggest that you take to one of the many waterparks for an opportunity to cool off and attempt to escape the heat.
There are a number of waterpark options throughout the Emirates, so we have visited them to give you the pros and cons of each park. Out & About UAE proudly present ‘The Water Park Rundown!’
Last week, when the UAE was recognised as being the hottest place in the world (50.5°C in Al Ain!) Out & About UAE decided to take a trip to Ski Dubai and get some some respite from the sweltering heat.
Located inside the Mall Of The Emirates, Ski Dubai is the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort and a marvel of the modern world. It’s the size of three football fields (22,500 SQM) and contains five runs, at a maximum height of 85m. Snow is present all year round and the temperature is maintained between -2°C and -20°C.
Ajman, also known as the ‘Sunshine Emirate’, is the smallest of the seven Emirates that make up the UAE. Located only thirty minutes from Dubai, it feels like a world away from the congestion and urban sprawl. Ajman is still a relatively small and sleepy fishing town, with a very traditional feel, almost as though time has gone by unchanged for hundreds of years. We recently took a weekend trip to explore Ajman, and here are the things that we recommend that you see and do.
